These movies are things that I’ve found recently or rewatched and found that, yeah they’re still enjoyable. Plus having watched so many movies available on multiple streaming platforms, finding small gems is a nice surprise. Check some of these out if you’re in the same boat and looking for something new. These are a few recommendations for movies to start out the spooky season. 😀 – Robin

IMAGINARY FRIEND

This movie was such a sleeper for me. I didn’t expect to like it so much. At first it was slow going and I was wondering if I was wasting my time watching it but as it went on I was invested. I love Lacey Chabert and she just does such a good job in this movie.

If you’re looking for an indie-ish movie (non-mainstream), Check this one out. There’s twist after twist of psychological thrill/horror and It’s definitely enjoyable.

STONEHEART ASYLUM

Who doesn’t love a good Kate Beckinsale movie? This one is yet another one of those movies full of twists. I was surprised by the twist in this one and really enjoyed it. As with many other horror movies, this one has its holes that you can nitpick and judge and question but the overall movie is a good one.

If you want a mix of horror and suspense, I would definitely recommend this one.

THE EYE

This movie is…weird. It’s got Jessica Alba so you’re like…ok? They the synopsis is a blind girl gets a cornea transplant in order to see again. What she sees is…you got it–ghosts. So things play out and it’s an alright twist. Very Gothika. Not the best horror movie of all time but if you’re running low in your arsenal give it a shot.

THE MESSENGERS

A movie where Kristen Stewart isn’t COMPLETELY horrible? It’s really not bad. I’ve watched it a few times and though it’s cheesy and at times B-movie, it’s still not too bad. A family moves to this farmhouse because family problems and weird things start happening. The young toddler is the only one that seems to see things at first then things start escalating from there. It’s got Dylan McDermott who was in American Horror Story. It’s got a nice twist.

Check this one out if you haven’t yet.

THE WOODS

I had to toss one in there because it stars one of my favorite people: Bruce Campbell. He’s not the main character but he plays a good part. This one is one of those movies where you kind of know what’s going on and just scream at the TV, “Get out of there!!” It’s not bad at all. A lot of the acting is pretty good. Some not so good. If you like witchcraft-y movies, check this out. It’s only 1 hr 30 min. Quick hit of spoopy for you.
